The 2021 R.A.T. Run marked the twelfth trip since it’s inception in 2009, this annual Remote Area Testing trip has become part of the core DNA of Cruisemaster. After the disappointment of the 2020 testing trip being cancelled due to COVID-19, there was added enthusiasm from the Cruisemaster team for the 2021 trip.

The 2021 R.A.T. Run saw the team return to Cape York in far North Queensland and was nicknamed “Cape York’s Calling”. The Cruisemaster team felt this best reflected the desire within the team to bust out of Brisbane after recent restrictions and enjoy what they love most, on some of their favorite tracks in Australia!

This trip saw the biggest Cruisemaster convoy to date with the addition of a full chassis and the Kaymar Nissan Patrol.

While the Cruisemaster team had tackles the tracks to Cape York several times before much of the focus this year would be on the ‘Frenchman’s Track’ this was a first for many of the team and would introduce some more extreme offroad conditions compared to the equally punishing but less spectacular endless corrugations which have dominated trips over the last few years.

As part of the Cruisemaster product development cycle all products require “Real World Testing” before release to market. Given it was two years between drinks; Cruisemaster had more prototypes than ever ready to be put through the rigors of the R.A.T. Run. Adding to the Cruisemaster prototypes being tested we also had a range of other prototypes by partner manufacturers fitted to the fleet.

Want to see what goes into Cruisemaster product testing for yourself? Like previous years the 2021 trip was captured breakdowns and all for you to watch. Check out the Videos page on this website, the Cruisemaster Youtube Page or simply search “Cape York’s Calling” on YouTube.
